Abstract

This study examines the effects of community policing on the
security of students' lives and school property in the Makarfi Local
Government Education Authority. The research reveals that
community policing has a positive impact in reducing security
incidents within schools. It identifies various challenges affecting
school security, including kidnapping, theft, and vandalism. The
study also explores the roles and challenges faced by security
agencies such as Edu-Marshals, the Kaduna State Vigilante
Service, and the Nigeria Police Force. Findings suggest that
enhancing community awareness, providing welfare packages,
and fencing school premises are essential strategies for promoting
effective community policing. The study's outcomes have
significant implications for policymakers, educators, and security
agencies aiming to improve school security and foster a safe
learning environment. The research draws on both primary and
secondary sources. Primary data were collected through field
methods such as interviews and questionnaire administrjation,
while secondary sources include textbooks, academic journals,
magazines, conference papers, and online publications.
